The Archive

About
The Orchard

The Orchard is an open fiction archive built for the writers and readers who remember what it felt like when the archive was the place — and who deserve somewhere to go now that those places are closing.

Why It Exists

Fanfiction archives have been disappearing. Sites that held decades of community writing — stories that people poured real effort and real love into — are shutting down, going unmaintained, losing their data. Writers are losing their work. Readers are losing their communities.

The Orchard exists to be a stable, permanent, well-maintained home for that writing. It is free to use. It does not require approval to post. It is not going anywhere.

What You Can Post

Any fiction. Fan fiction, original fiction, poetry, experimental work. Any genre. Any rating — General through Explicit, with appropriate labels. Real Person Fiction is welcome under our RPF Policy. Your work is yours and always will be.

The Muse System

The Orchard organizes stories around muses — the real or fictional people a story is written about. This is how readers find you: not by searching a title, but by looking for their person and finding your work there waiting for them. It's the native language of fan communities, and it's built into the archive from the ground up.

Part of a Larger World

The Orchard is part of the Tasting Eden ecosystem — a collection of creative spaces built by Harlyn Bryan and RaeOvSun. Writers who find their voice here can go deeper into Ambient, a curated seasonal writing community, or explore Tasting Eden itself.

Literary Site Tasting Eden
